The Earth`s crust has several layers. The inner
core of solid iron that is surrounded by an outer
core consisting of liquid iron and nickel. The mantel comes next. It is a solid layer of rock. After this is the asthenosphere a layer
of soft rock. The last 2 layers are known
as the lithosphere. These layers are made up of the dense rock of the upper mantel and the crust. The continental and ocean crust or lithospheric plates sit on top of the upper mantel. The ocean crust is underneath the earth' s oceans.
The breaking down of the radioactive elements of the outer core creates immense heat. The heat of the liquid rock causes the different layers to move around.
